East Cape Manuka Oil – Laboratory tests have identified powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory properties in East Cape manuka oil.
Scientific research has found that the East Cape, a rugged and remote part of the North Island, produces a very special manuka oil composition that is not found anywhere else in the world.
The particular chemotype characteristic of the East Cape region is unique because it contains unusually high concentrations of triketones, in addition to the sesquiterpenes characteristic of the manuka plants more common to this region.
The presence of the high concentrations of triketones work synergistically with the other, more common chemical consituents (such as the sesquiterpenes) creating powerful anti-microbial properties that work wonders on the skin.
Studies have shown that manuka oil is cytophylactic and replaces previously damaged skin with new healthy skin.
